The title image of this post appeared on my Facebook timeline this week, and it made me smile. Just recently I’ve become the (slightly frustrated) owner of a couple of picky eaters myself, and it really limits the meals I can cook! If you have any recipes or advice please feel free to add comments!
The Main Offender
Jacob is probably the most picky when it comes to food. Most of the time he says he’s not hungry, even though I know he must be. I’ve resorted to getting anything down him that he asks for, just for a quiet life. I was delighted last week when he started agreeing to having a banana for breakfast, sometimes he’d have more than one.
“Excellent”, I thought to myself “Healthy and filling, I’m such a great mum, I’m going to buy lots of bananas and I don’t have to feel guilty!”
However, his banana phase was very short lived, and now I’m left with a fruit bowl full of bananas. I can’t even eat them myself as I’m trying to avoid carbs.
Meals They’ll All Eat
At the minute, there’s two meals I can cook and all five are happy to eat which are, roast chicken and spag bol. The other five nights of the week I’m having to juggle different meals for them, which I know is a rod for my own back, but I feel I’ve not got a lot of choice. To be fair to the older two, if they’re not keen on what’s on offer, they will make their own, but I don’t see the point in cooking something I know the younger ones won’t eat and then have them be hungry later.
Answers On A Postcard Please …….
I’d love to hear what you do about meal times in your household. Are there any recipes you know to be a winner? Do you think I should stand my ground and just cook one meal. Have you got a picky eater and a method to deal with it? Let me know your opinions!
