I recently turned thirty–nine and I’m not too keen on the fact that this is the last year of my thirties! Has a decade really passed so quickly? I remember happily turning thirty, and thinking that this was a good age to be. I was no longer an over-confident twenty-something without a care in the world. Thirty was the start of a new journey, Thirty meant I was a proper adult! To be fair, by the time I hit thirty I was married with two lovely little ones, and as we’d got on the property ladder young, we had a good-sized house with reasonable mortgage.
Forty is a whole new ball game
Things have ticked along pretty smoothly, until now – but everything changes at forty.
I look in the mirror and wonder where the young me has gone. I’ve put on weight, my hair is nowhere near as long as it used to be (and doesn’t seem to want to grow!) I generally look a lesser version of myself. But rather than wallow in the loss of the person I use to be, I’ve decided to do something about it. I’m going to take control and reinvent myself.
The first step will be to sort out my skin. I have had facials in the past but nothing regular, so… I’ve booked myself in to have a few sessions of Dermaplaning (In case you’re not sure what Dermaplaning is, it’s a facial that involves using a very fine scalpel to carefully remove any dead skin cells and tiny hairs.)
Over time it’s also meant to help with fine lines — something else I have, and wish that I hadn’t! Apparently it’s not a harsh treatment, so I’m expecting my skin to look brighter straight away. Dermaplanning is also meant to help with dryness –something my skin suffers from, despite my using plenty of moisturiser—so I’m hoping my complexion will look fresher, too.
I’m really excited to try it out, so I’ve booked for next week and I’ll be reporting back with photos of how it all went.
I’d also love to hear of other things I could try to help rewind the clock— so any recommendations of face creams or hair products would be greatly appreciated!
