I’ve recently started to use Pintrest to look for clothing ideas and styles. A few things have caught my eye and I started thinking that maybe I could sew something to recreate the look that I’m after. So, using Pintrest as my “Pin-spiration”, let me tell you about my first challenge.
I spotted this off the shoulder top, and decided this would look really nice dressed up with a few accessories. Florals are my thing so I thought this would be a great first project.
I searched a few of my favourite fabric suppliers and found a really similar fabric from the website Flamingo Fabrics
The fabric I chose is called Roses Hacci, and its a medium weight knit fabric. I found it to have really good stretch and it was really easy to handle and sew. It’s made from 95% Polyester and 5% lycra and was perfect for my over-sized sweater design. The pattern design I used was the High Hopes Dolman pattern by Ellie&Mac, I did however alter the sleeves slightly to match more with the design I was trying to copy. Here are some photos of my finished top, and as you can see the fabric is a great match. The dolman sleeve style gives the sweater a really nice shape.
I definitely enjoyed making this top, and when I next have time to sew something for myself, I’ll search Pintrest for more inspiration! Below is a side by side comparison of the “Pin” and my own version, let me know what you think!
