I’ve managed to stick to my diet for a second week, and it’s not gone too badly. I’m following the Exante diet plan, which means I’m only consuming 800-1000 calories a day. I thought that hunger would be a problem, being on such a low calorie daily allowance but I’m surprised to say it hasn’t been an issue. My favourite shake flavour for this week is White Chocolate and Raspberry. I’m still trying to increase my water intake, which is probably the part I’ve found the hardest. The weight IS beginning to come off, but I also know in the first stage of dieting this loss can be down to water weight.
What Is Water Weight?
People often talk about water weight when referring to dieting, but what exactly is it?
Well, it’s fluid that collects in your tissues, causing them to swell. The water that would normally go to the kidneys to pass, is retained by the body and is stored in the cells. Consuming salt and carbohydrates can cause this water weight, so initially when carbs are restricted (like with this diet plan) the weight loss you see on the scales is the loss of fluid. Hopefully, any difference I see will soon be actual weight disappearing!
My only other major problem is trying to restrict fizzy drinks. You’re not meant to have the citric acid that’s found in many brands, but I’m finding this really hard! Pepsi Max is a complete favourite of mine, and I haven’t managed to give it up completely, but I’ve limited myself to just having a glass (or two) in the evenings.
