I’m always so busy with orders these days (not that I’m complaining), and when I do have a quiet spell I always find some fabulous fabric that I just have to sew for one of the kids. But this time, I spotted some really pretty fabric which I decided to buy for me. Here’s what I made………
This is a ladies top with dolman style sleeves, and a dipped hem. I chose this style as I like a tunic length top to wear with leggings and the dipped hem is really flattering. The fabric is a beautiful floral french terry, which is lined with the softest sweatshirt fleece I’ve ever come across. It feels really luxurious to wear, and it’s not too thick or warm which is great for sunny days. The design of the dolman sleeves gives the top a really nice shape too, it’s more fitted across the chest and then curves outwards at the hem. The sleeves are just hemmed as normal which makes it a nice simple sew and the neckband can be adjusted if you prefer a lower scoop or possibly a V-neck.
I’m really a fan of this new top and I wish I made it sooner. I also really like the idea of extending it’s length to make it a t-shirt dress to wear with sandals. Maybe that can be my next “selfish sew”!
I’ve recently been thinking about adding adult clothing to my range so parents can match with their children’s favourite items! I’ll let you know if I decide to go ahead! Thanks for reading and let me know what you think!
