I know you’re probably all fed up of hearing about lockdown, I know I am! We’ve reached day 105 and it’s still officially not over. Although places are starting to open their doors again, it’s not going to be the same as before this happened.
If you’re like me and have been at home trying to entertain the kids, I’ve definitely ran out of ideas. More than twelve weeks of being told to stay at home is certainly starting to take it’s toll! Here’s a few things that I’ve done to try and keep busy, and I would love to hear what you’ve been doing too!
Use Water Whenever Possible!
We have been lucky with the weather so far, and in the earlier days of lockdown we had a lot of sun. With the younger ones I’ve found they seem happier if we incorporate some sort of water play, so I’ve taken advantage of the back garden. A couple of cheap water slides and the hose pipe, they’ve played for a good couple of hours- mostly squabble free!
When we have been able to go somewhere, we’ve headed to our country park or on walks in the open air. Being local has meant we can get our timing right, and made sure we’ve gone at less busy times. Again, having the option to include water on these trips, has definitely added more fun.
A Good Time To Get A Pet?
The middle two, Charlie and Holly, have been asking for a pet of their own for quite a while now. As we’ve all been at home we decided it was a good time to finally agree. Although I really wanted a puppy, my husband over-ruled me, and the kids ended up with hamsters! We’ve already got one hamster that belongs to Olivia (the eldest), but now we’ve added to the family with two more.
On Rainy Days We Bake-Yum!
This last week or so has been pretty much a right-off in terms of getting outside. We’ve had so many grey and wet days that it has been hard to keep the kids busy. I’ve resorted to baking when the iPad has been exhausted, and they seem to enjoy it. This week we made cupcakes with edible slime, which sound horrendous but actually taste amazing!
So there are some of the thing we’ve been doing to pass the days, any ideas for keeping three little ones amused would be greatly appreciated!
