I know I’m not alone in feeling some January blues, but it feels worse this time as last year we went abroad. I do remember being slightly stressed about going on holiday so quickly after Christmas, but now in hindsight it was definitely nicer than spending time in the UK! We went to Lanzarote, and now I want to go back!
Everything’s Better With Sun
We’d never been on holiday during our winter before, and I wasn’t completely convinced that the weather would as nice as I was hoping. But, the minute we landed and the sun was shinning in across the plane, I knew we’d made the right decision. The familiar heat that hits you when you come down the aeroplane’s stairs, is such a wonderful feeling. Knowing you’ve got a week in the sunshine, all inclusive, with plenty of things for the kids to do, is instantly relaxing and it starts to sink in that you’re now on HOLIDAY!
I really should have made more of an effort to get something booked for this January, but I remember briefly looking only to find the prices seemed so much higher than last year. However, I’m really not enjoying these grey days and cold weather so I’ll get saving!
Holidays Are Perfect For Making Memories
While we were there we had the chance to have some professional photographs taken by the onsite photographer and I am really pleased that we did. Usually I’m the one who takes the photos, so it was nice to get some of all of us together. My mobile doesn’t take very good quality photos but I still make a conscious effort to take more photos when we’re doing family things. When I look back at old photos of Olivia and Josh, we’ve definitely not got as many as the younger ones now, simply because our camera phones were really basic.
The kids all look so much younger, what a difference a year makes!
Have you had a family holiday in January? Would you do it again? Or do you not mind January and save your holidays for the summer? Let me know!
